Mission to Romania -- June 2001 .

The Ploiesti Chamber of Commerce and the University for Petroleum and Gas is sponsoring a workshop to promote cooperation between Chicagoland and Ploiesti, Romania businesses. Elements of the cooperation include:

1) Conduct a workshop on establishing a series of strategic allinaces between Chicago businesses and Romanian companies. A four-day period of seminars and meetings will be held in June, 2001.

2) Establish a "business incubator" in an existing factory space in Ploiesti, near the University for Petroleum. The building has been renovated and a stock of machine tools installed by its owners.

3) Develop strategic alliances at the medium-size business level.

4) Develop an internship program to support Romanian students for a 3-month Chicago work experience. A connection between the alliance building and the internship program will be sought.

Professor Rollin Dix and Ms. Joanne Gucwa are the US workshop presenters.

Professor Dix has taught mechanical design and CAD-CAM at Illinois Institute of Technology for 35 years. He has served as expert witness in numerous trade secret, patent, and product failure cases. In addition, he has worked in industry on design and manufacturing engineering, on cost estimating and on employee compensation. He has personal investments in Ploiesti.

Ms. Joanne Gucwa established the predecessor to Technology Management Associates, Inc. in 1973 and has served as president since that time. She consults on market intelligence and business strategy to a worldwide base of technology, manufacturing, service and governmental clients. She serves as investment advisor to the Japan External Trade Organization's (JETRO) Chicago Office.

Featured speaker Mr. Yutaka Fujinami, JETRO Import Specialist and IT Advisor to the R&D Group, Nissho Iwai Infocom Corporation of Tokyo. Also speaking -- Mr. Michael P. Murphy of the Chicagoland Electronic Commerce Initiative, and Mr. Nobumasa Take of JETRO Chicago.

Techno Business Forum -- February 2001.

The Chicagoland Electronic Commerce Initiative (CECI) is proud to support Rushmore Associates, Inc. and Silicon Loop Ventures, LLC (BizPhix) in their mission to Techno Business Forum with Jetro Chicago.

In conjunction with the trip to Japan, BizPhix will begin a test of digital certificates with CECI and several other participating organizations. Beginning in January the memberships of several of Chicago's technology organizations will begin to use digital certificates in a trial expected to last until March. While each group may perform its own trial, CECI will present subject matter experts from parallel and competing technologies to discuss the use of Public Key Infrastructure.

Technology Management Associates, Inc. Mission to Osaka, Japan -- October 2000.

The Chicagoland Electronic Commerce Initiative (CECI) is proud to support Technology Management Associates, Inc.'s mission with Jetro Chicago and DePaul University to the Global Business Opportunity Convention (G-BOC) and Global Venture Forum (GVF). Its purpose is to promote international business understanding among DePaul's faculty and Technology Management's resources for technology partners worldwide.

The event will be held at the Mydome Osaka (Exhibition Center adjacent to the OCCI Building) Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).
