Program: Enterprise Strategic
Decision Management:
A disruptive business process innovation
Presenter: Gary DeGregorio,
Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff
Science Advisory Board Associate,
Motorola, Inc.
|
Abstract
A group of leading companies have banded
together to define international standards of excellence for Enterprise
Strategic Decision Management (IEEE P1694 ESDM). Currently enterprises of all
sizes have no common framework from which to manage all the decisions across
the organization and/or its roles. This makes it extremely difficult to
understand how any one decision sits in context with other decisions and to
manage the consequences of all the decisions across the enterprise and over
time.
This decision framework provides a common
language and information structure to enable true collaboration across the
diverse roles (strategy, market planning, portfolio management, program
management, engineering ...) existing in most companies. It also introduces a
new requirements traceability paradigm which more clearly answers the age-old
questions "Where do requirements come from?" and "How can we
better manage requirements change?" Software tools have been created to
assist individuals and teams in the use of the ESDM decision framework. C-SPIN
members will be informed on how to join the IEEE P1694 Working Group, if
interested.

About
C-SPIN
C-SPIN is made possible through the efforts of
its Steering Committee. The Steering Committee is composed of,
Alan Berow, Kathy Brown, Steve Coffman, Susan Davidowski, Donna
Miller, and Robert Stalzer.
C-SPIN is a leadership forum for
the free and open exchange of software process improvement experiences and
practical ideas. We promote achieving higher levels of process maturity,
software quality, and mutual respect. Companies, academic institutions,
government organizations and individuals are invited.
To receive future announcements
electronically, send your e-mail address (include name, personal email
address, company, and phone number) to Robert Stalzer at cspin@coderelay.com.
